LNG

LNG intelligence covering JKM and TTF references, SPA and spot structures, DES, FOB and terminal access.

Executive overview

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas cooled to a liquid state for transport and regasification. Commercial contracts distinguish cargo quality, quantity, loading and discharge windows, destination, diversion rights, vessel compatibility, title and payment. A benchmark reference is not a cargo offer.

JKM and TTF are widely used market references for different regional pricing contexts; their relevance depends on the contract and delivery point. Cheniere, Freeport LNG and Woodside are recognized supply-side participants, while CPC, CNOOC and Petronet are examples of buyer or market participants whose role must be confirmed for a specific transaction.

9Delves supports mandate definition, counterparty research and commercial coordination. Current liquefaction availability, terminal access, sanctions, shipping and price require transaction-specific evidence.

Industries served

  • Utility and power generators
  • Gas distribution and energy companies
  • Industrial fuel consumers
  • LNG portfolio traders
  • Regasification terminal operators

Typical origins

LNG supply originates from liquefaction projects worldwide; proposed project, loading port, seller authority, vessel and terminal access require verification.

Supply capabilities

An LNG mandate should state cargo quantity, specification, loading and discharge windows, delivery basis, destination, regasification or terminal requirements, ship compatibility, pricing reference, indexation, tolerance, inspection and documentary conditions. Long-term sale and purchase agreements (SPAs) differ materially from spot or short-term transactions.

DES and FOB allocate different delivery responsibilities and risk under the agreed contract structure; the named place and complete clauses matter. Buyers should not infer that an index, seller name or terminal mention establishes capacity or availability.

International logistics

LNG logistics require compatible liquefaction and regasification infrastructure, chartering, boil-off management, vessel scheduling, terminal slots, safety controls, insurance and customs documentation. Confirm the agreed delivery rule, named place, laycan, nomination, demurrage, diversion and claims terms. Port and sanctions checks are jurisdiction-specific.

Trade finance compatibility

LNG pricing may reference JKM, TTF or another agreed index with defined quotation periods, adjustments and currency. Long-term SPAs and spot trades have different credit, take-or-pay and delivery structures. Bank approval, sanctions review and documentary conditions remain separate; no financing is implied.

Our due diligence process

9Delves begins with a precise mandate and counterparty map. We verify corporate identity, authority, beneficial ownership, operating claims, documentation, and relevant shipment history. Product specifications and inspection requirements are defined before commercial discussions advance. We then align logistics, compliance, payment terms, and responsibilities so that each party understands the next decision. Findings are recorded clearly; unresolved questions remain visible rather than being treated as assumptions.

Our role is advisory and coordinative. We do not represent unverified supply, guarantee a transaction, or replace legal, sanctions, tax, or technical advisers. We help principals make better-informed decisions and maintain a professional process across borders.
