Bauxite & Alumina

Bauxite and alumina sourcing intelligence covering assay, moisture, reactive silica, origin evidence, bulk logistics and refinery fit.

Executive overview

Bauxite and alumina sit upstream of primary aluminum but are separate traded products. Bauxite quality can involve available alumina, reactive silica, moisture and sizing; alumina specifications and handling differ again. A buyer should state which product it needs, its processing route and the technical parameters that determine acceptance.

Guinea and Australia are important bauxite-origin contexts, while alumina moves through integrated and independent refining chains. A producing-country reference does not prove a seller controls a cargo. Origin, mining or refining authority, export status, assay and loading capability must be established for the specific offer.

The commercial question is often not simply price per tonne. Buyers need to understand moisture and payable basis, quality adjustments, vessel and terminal compatibility, storage, inland movement and whether the proposed material fits their refinery or smelter process. 9Delves helps organize those questions and qualify counterparties.

Typical origins

Guinea and Australia are key origin contexts; proposed mine, refinery, origin, authority and export status require transaction-specific evidence.

Supply capabilities

A mandate should identify bauxite or alumina, assay basis, available alumina, reactive silica and other relevant impurities, moisture, particle size, quantity, shipment window, loading point, destination, inspection and pricing formula. For alumina, packaging or bulk handling, calcination or product specification and receiving-facility requirements should be explicit.

Seller authority and title should be reconciled with mine, refinery, stock, port and export records where relevant. Independent sampling and analysis can support acceptance, but the sampling protocol, lot identity and claims window belong in the contract. Published benchmark information is context, not proof of a cargo.

International logistics

Bauxite and alumina may move by bulk vessel, barge, rail or truck, with moisture management, draft, stockpile, sampling, terminal capability and discharge planning central to execution. Confirm Incoterms® 2020 rule, named place, loading tolerance, inspection, insurance, demurrage, customs, claims and inland delivery.

Trade finance compatibility

Pricing may use a negotiated formula with quality, moisture, freight or index-linked adjustments. Documentary credits and other terms are bank- and transaction-specific; when UCP 600 is incorporated, banks examine stipulated documents rather than independently validating cargo, title or quality. No financing is implied.

Our due diligence process

9Delves begins with a precise mandate and counterparty map. We verify corporate identity, authority, beneficial ownership, operating claims, documentation, and relevant shipment history. Product specifications and inspection requirements are defined before commercial discussions advance. We then align logistics, compliance, payment terms, and responsibilities so that each party understands the next decision. Findings are recorded clearly; unresolved questions remain visible rather than being treated as assumptions.

Our role is advisory and coordinative. We do not represent unverified supply, guarantee a transaction, or replace legal, sanctions, tax, or technical advisers. We help principals make better-informed decisions and maintain a professional process across borders.
