Commodity intelligence
Steel
Steel sourcing intelligence for institutional buyers covering HRC, CRC, rebar, grades, mill verification, logistics and trade risk.
Executive overview
Steel is an industrial product family rather than a single commodity. Hot-rolled coil (HRC), cold-rolled coil (CRC), rebar, plate and galvanized products differ in chemistry, dimensions, finish, tolerances and end use; a buyer must define the applicable standard and inspection basis.
ArcelorMittal, POSCO and China Baowu are major named industry participants, but a company name does not establish current availability, authority or mill origin for a proposed lot. China remains an important steelmaking and exporting context; capacity, policy, demand and trade remedies should be assessed for the specific product and destination.
9Delves supports mandate definition, counterparty research and document coordination. Product, price, allocation, export status and delivery outcomes require transaction-specific evidence.
Industries served
- Construction and rebar fabricators
- Automotive manufacturers
- Appliance and machinery producers
- Service centers and distributors
- Infrastructure contractors
Typical origins
Global producing regions including Europe, Asia and the Americas; proposed mill, origin, export authority and availability require verification.
Supply capabilities
A steel mandate should identify product form, grade, thickness, width, coil or bar dimensions, tolerances, coating, mechanical properties, applicable standard, quantity, shipment window, destination and inspection method. HRC, CRC and rebar labels are not complete specifications by themselves.
Buyers should distinguish primary steel from recycled feedstock and clarify whether production uses a basic oxygen furnace (BOF) or electric arc furnace (EAF). This is a commercial and technical distinction, not a guarantee of emissions performance or quality. Infrastructure demand is an end-use context; it does not establish a forecast.
International logistics
Steel may move as coils, bundles, bars or plate by bulk, breakbulk or container depending on dimensions, packing and destination. Confirm Incoterms® 2020 rule, named place, mill certificates, surveyor, loading tolerance, insurance, claims, customs and inland delivery. Destination standards and trade-remedy requirements are jurisdiction-specific.
Trade finance compatibility
Payment structures are contractual and bank-specific. A documentary credit incorporating UCP 600 is document-based and does not replace checks of quality, title, sanctions, origin or seller authority. No finance or instrument is implied.
Our due diligence process
9Delves begins with a precise mandate and counterparty map. We verify corporate identity, authority, beneficial ownership, operating claims, documentation, and relevant shipment history. Product specifications and inspection requirements are defined before commercial discussions advance. We then align logistics, compliance, payment terms, and responsibilities so that each party understands the next decision. Findings are recorded clearly; unresolved questions remain visible rather than being treated as assumptions.
Our role is advisory and coordinative. We do not represent unverified supply, guarantee a transaction, or replace legal, sanctions, tax, or technical advisers. We help principals make better-informed decisions and maintain a professional process across borders.
