Aluminum

Aluminum sourcing intelligence for institutional buyers covering bauxite, alumina, primary metal, LME references, logistics and verification.

Executive overview

Aluminum supply is commonly understood through a chain from bauxite to alumina and then primary aluminum, followed by casting, rolling, extrusion and other fabrication. Each stage has distinct quality, conversion, energy and logistics considerations. “Aluminum” is not a complete commercial specification.

RUSAL, Alcoa, EGA and Chinese smelters are recognizable industry participants, yet a named producer does not prove that a seller controls a current lot. The London Metal Exchange (LME) can provide a reference for pricing; premiums, fabrication charges, freight and product form remain contract-specific.

Guinea and Australia are important bauxite-origin contexts, but origin, title, export authority and chain-of-custody evidence must be checked for each transaction. 9Delves supports mandate definition and counterparty qualification without representing unverified supply.

Typical origins

Bauxite and aluminum supply chains span Guinea, Australia and other producing regions; origin, producer authority and lot evidence require verification.

Supply capabilities

A mandate should specify alumina, primary metal, billet, ingot, slab, sheet, foil or extrusion; alloy and temper; dimensions; quantity; packaging; inspection; delivery window; destination; and pricing basis. For upstream material, assay, moisture, impurities and conversion terms require technical review.

Power is a material operating input for primary smelting, so buyers may assess energy sourcing and production context as part of commercial diligence. That assessment is not a universal cost ranking or a substitute for supplier records, technical data and contract terms.

International logistics

Bauxite, alumina and primary aluminum require different handling, storage and transport arrangements. Contracts should identify packaging, moisture or assay where relevant, loading point, terminal capability, surveyor, Incoterms® 2020 rule, insurance, customs, claims and inland delivery. Import standards are jurisdiction-specific.

Trade finance compatibility

LME-linked or other pricing mechanisms, premiums and payment terms are agreed contractually and remain subject to bank approval. Documentary credits examine stipulated documents when UCP 600 is incorporated; they do not independently validate metal, title, sanctions or quality. No funding is implied.

Our due diligence process

9Delves begins with a precise mandate and counterparty map. We verify corporate identity, authority, beneficial ownership, operating claims, documentation, and relevant shipment history. Product specifications and inspection requirements are defined before commercial discussions advance. We then align logistics, compliance, payment terms, and responsibilities so that each party understands the next decision. Findings are recorded clearly; unresolved questions remain visible rather than being treated as assumptions.

Our role is advisory and coordinative. We do not represent unverified supply, guarantee a transaction, or replace legal, sanctions, tax, or technical advisers. We help principals make better-informed decisions and maintain a professional process across borders.
